joyce swenson, standing 5'11 and represented by next models. a dear friend and what we like to call beautiful fun. her location is always unpredictable, as she travels often. but if you're lucky, you'll spot her in the city as she's a new york native. everywhere she goes, people fall in love. we were able to catch up with her and ask her some personal questions and we enjoyed it a lot.

how old were you when you started modeling?
j: 15

what got you started in the industry?
j: i was scouted grabbing a bite to eat at quiznos in new york by my first modeling agency.

what has your biggest struggle been as a model?
j: its hard traveling alot and constantly missing people. oh and living out of a suitcase!

what's your favorite food?
j: too many to pick just one, i love pizza, chips and salsa, and i'm obsessed with chai tea lattes.

if your friends had to describe you in one word, what would it be?
j: random

what are your favorite artists?
j: lady gaga, kings of leon, britney spears, red hot chili peppers, lily allen, robyn, nas, kanye west.

we know you travel a lot for work, where is your favorite place to travel and why?
j: i love going to sydney, australia, i try to go at least once a year. i love the laid back culture and amazing weather and beaches. also i have a great bunch of friends there.

what is the best advice you can give to an aspiring model?
j:I would advise aspiring models to trust their gut feelings and always keep at it. stay focussed and don't let anyone tell you you're not good enough.

who is your biggest inspiration?
j: my mother, she is such an amazing independent and strong woman. she always taught me not to rely on anyone for anything.

if you were an animal, what would you be?

j: a crab because i'm hard on the outside soft on the inside. i also walk sideways!
